There are many great attractions in Mallorca good for either a whole day out or a few hours diversion. With so many varied choices on the island it can be hard nigh almost impossible to fit everything into the space of one holiday. I intend to help narrow down these options to the best of the best for your holiday enjoyment. Let´s start with the water parks.
The first is Western water park in Magaluf. This themed water park boasts unique wild west decor, incredible pools, some truly inventive kids pools and some of the most thrilling water slides to be seen, including the famous (or maybe infamous) yellow beast; a giant drop slide boasting a top possible speed of 90 kilometres an hour.
As well as Western water park there is Aqualand, sitting behind the resort of El Arenal Aqualand is the largest water park in Mallorca and it uses its space well having vast areas of the park which make it easy to forget you are two minutes away from a giant water slide, and what water slides they are. Where Western Park goes for all out thrills on its slides, Aqualand boasts some truly inventive attractions such as a giant drop slide which has you ride on a board which allows you to skim over the water like a pebble.
If one of the water parks can’t fill your thrill quota there is always Jungle Parc Santa Ponça. This tree born adventure park is great fun as long as your fine with heights. Jungle Parc boasts three courses for different levels of experience: the swashbuckling Piratas, a pirate themed kids course, Explorador, a basic level course and Extremo, a hard mode course. The park has many truly awesome obstacles from traditional adventure park fare like zip-lines and rope bridges to more unusual stuff like twisting log routes and a flying snowboard.
The best part about all this is all of the seemingly insane obstacles are safe to the point of obsession, with all partakers in the activities secured at all times using equipment of the highest quality available.
From treetop adventure to exploring new lands the House of Katmandu in Magaluf is an amazing voyage into optical illusions and strange curiosities. Featuring such marvels as a room capable of making you think your walking on the ceiling, a playable water piano and some of the finest examples of animatronics you will find anywhere.
The building is hard to miss as the whole experience is housed in an upside down house. As well as the main attraction, Katmandu now boasts a 4D virtual roller-coaster, a mini golf course and a house of horrors.
From the people who brought you Katmandu comes Golf Fantasia a mini golf course in Palma Nova which may be the most beautiful mini golf course ever built featuring realistic caves, huge waterfalls, tropical plants and beautiful rock sculptures; and all of this goes on around three different 18 hole courses which can prove to be surprisingly challenging.
For an even more breathtaking experience the best stop would be Pirates dinner show in Magalluf. This award winning show brings together former olympic level gymnasts, world class acrobats and spectacular dancers to form a fantastic show guaranteed to delight. With a loveable cast of characters and an enjoyable story the Pirates Adventure will delight all ages with its amazing choreography and unbelievable feats of acrobatics.
And the food is quite good as well. Also from the people behind Pirates is the show Come fly with me. This show is focused more on dance than high flying acrobatics but it still never fails to deliver a great performance. Set to the times and music of Sinatra and the Rat pack this show captures the whole feel perfectly.
If you are still hungry for spectacular shows then it’s time to check out Marineland in Portals. Of course like anywhere with marine in it’s name humans don’t take top billing in these shows! That honour belongs to Marineland’s dolphins, sea lions and parrots. These intelligent animals perform amazingly in Marineland’s top standard shows, which are up there with the best in the business. As well as the shows Marineland boasts fantastically informative tropical aquariums, an aviary and a reptile house.
Recently a challenger has appeared for the title of best marine attraction in Mallorca. Palma Aquarium (which is actually in El Arenal) features a large collection of sea life including some extremely rare breeds. Palma Aquarium boasts the first square shark tunnel (doesn’t sound impressive but remember how distorted a regular shark tunnel looks). This tunnel is just the start of the architectural delights that Palma Aquarium has to offer, it truly must be seen to be believed.
For more land based natural wonders, try La Reserva in the mountains near Puigpunyent. This mountain trail has free roaming peacocks, ducks and geese as well as some more impressive enclosed animals such as ostriches, emus, birds of prey and even a bear. As well as a large variety of impressive animals La Reserva includes many spots of natural beauty like water falls and scenic views. La Reserva’s sister park La Adventura features zip-lines, rope bridges, rock climbing and many more outdoor activities.
